CIVIL AVIATION WOES

These days private airlines like Indigo and Jet and Spice jet are canceling so many of their flights suddenly and board their harried passengers like cattle in any of next day flights without even asking their consent, and not giving food and accommodation for stranded outstation people. This has become a perennial problem.

When a consumer cancels ticket Rs 2500 to 3000 are charged as cancellation fee and over and above the difference in fare. When airlines unilaterally cancel their flights there is no compensation for delay and consequent damages or expenses one has to meet.

DGCA as regulator should look into this anomaly and bring in fair play and protect consumers from an unequal bargaining position. When consumers purchase tickets it becomes a contract of offer acceptance. Hence damages for breach of contract should be paid by the Airlines. more

DGCA is expected to interfere and ensure passenger's convenience due to cancellation of flights. more
Yes, the same principle applies for other modes of transport also; for example, when we cancel our tickets, the Railway charges a hefty amount as fine. But when the Railway cancels, they deduct even clerkage charges and then refund - if you have electronically paid. the refund takes even more than a month. The same is the case when the trains run very late. They levy heavy superfast charges but that is not refunded when the train is late. Can the Government authorities in this circle escalate this issue for action please? more
*Read The Prime Minister and His Robot Wife** by Jitendra Kumar Sharma on Amazon, a trenchant satire on western style democracy as it prevails in Bharat, that is NOT INDIA. There is a chapter on Universal Basic Income, a dialogue between the PM’s Wife and Bureaucrats.* On Wed, Feb 27, 2019 at 2:19 PM Sreekumaran Ganga Narayan < support@localcirclesmail.com> wrote: > more
