Cleaning Fruits, Vegetables etc.
In India use of PESTICIDES is rampant and most of the time the farmers use them without knowing their use and implications. They use any pesticide for any problem. It is just HIT & TRIAL. In the process their problems may not be solved but they create more problems for the CONSUMERS. Pesticide loads of our food is one example.
To cash on the same companies come out with 'INNOVATIVE' Products assuring safety and what not. Ozone does not remove All the Pesticides. In certain cases it may change the form of the chemicals.
As such Ozone does not stick to the Fruits or Vegetables as it is a gas. Ozone can cause problems when inhaled. If those machines release Ozone gas in the immediate atmosphere, in that case it may be harmful. As I am not aware of the way the machines are claimed to work, I cannot comment on that aspect.
A safer way, although never 100% effective, is to immerse the fruits/vegetables in water for some time, then a dd a little mild detergent to the water, shake and leave for about ten minutes. After that rinsing with clean water 3 or 4 times will remove the detergent. To some extent the Fruits/Vegetables will become free of the chemicals attached to the surface. But chemicals absorbed in deeper tissues cannot be removed by any means. more
