I am a senior citizen. Yesterday I had been to K S R Railway station Bangalore to send my wife to Mumbai by Coimbatore- Lokamanya Tilak Express (11014). At about 2.15 P.M Electronics display was indicating the arrival of this train as 3.45 p.m and Departure as 4.00 p.m ( Scheduled time) without indicating the Platform no. As the Validity of Platform Ticket is 2 hours, I had purchased a Platform ticket. At about 3.30 P.m the display changed the arrival & departure as 4.15 P.M & 4.20PM without indicating the Platform No. After some time the display changed to 4.25 pm(Arrival) & 4.30 p.m(departure) without the Platform No.. After some time the display changed the arrival as 4.40p.m and departure as 4.45 pm on Platform No.4. When I checked the the TTE about the validity of Platform ticket, who answered me that it is valid upto 4.15 P.M only, So, I was forced to purchase another Platform ticket, with no fault of mine. Platform No.4 which has got only by foot bridge faced the mad rush by the passengers to enter the Platform. In Plat form No 4. display of compartment position was not operative. Finally the train arrived at 5.00 P.M and left at 5.20 P.M. The following lapses are the result of mis - management by Railways Administration. a. As the Train departed 1 hr late from Coimbatore and the delay continued( As per Train running status), they could have properly displayed the correct timings. b. Why compartment display was not operated in the Platform?. This was resulted in inconvenience to passengers, specially the handicaps and the senior citizen searching for their bogies, when the train arrived. c. Actual time gap of 20 minutes for Arrival & Departure,But the display was showing a time gap of 5 minutes, which has resulted in clashes by alighting and boarding passengers. This could have very well avoided. d. The above shows that the South Western Railway is not bothered about the passengers. Will the South Western Railways will note the above. more
Yes I also am a long distance frequent traveller (once every month)and I mostly travel by 3A or 2A,And 90%/of the time the toilet are in very horrible, unusable and stinking. The railways have increased the fares of AC by nearly 40% but still toilets and coaches are in very poor condition more
the water being filled in the compartment is very unhygenic the pipes are very long and are always seen lying on yhe drain. the is unfit for washing hands or face as the drain is filled with dirt please resolve it more
Thanks for this picture Mr. Dodeja . There are a total of 55,000 coaches in the railways . At the rate of 4 toilets Per coach it will be 2,20,000 toilets to be manged . How to plan the maintanance of these 2.2 lakh toilets : * The equipments puchased should be of goog quality durable for several years ; secondly railways should calculate the number people handling / using the facility . At least 20 to 40 times in a day. SO STURDY FITTINGS SHOULD BE PURCHASED * Maintanance frequency should be to match the usage of 20 to 40 passengers a day. Particularly the fittings. If the toilet is dirty like this in the picture and wet it will be nuaseating to go closer, as a result fittings will not be used with care as we do it at home. And there will be more dirt accumulated * There should be periodic fumigation not as being done by the contract firms. I don't see anything more than them marking the dates which has become just a ritual. Give the contract to serious operators who have interest in keeping the coaches clean and insect free. Railways have a separtae sectioon for this , who will appoint time tested contractors or workers and be responsible for the operation totally; don't tax the higher up with the fixing of contract . *There should be some one from the railways to check if the contractor has done the job. The oficial who is apointing the contractor should also check up if the contractor does the job to the satidfaction. ISN'T THERE A PRACTICE TO CHECK THE PASSENGER COACHES IN THE YARDS BEFORE THEY ARE RELEASED TO THE PLATFORMS. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN A PREMIER TRAIN RAJADHANI . more
