Cleanliness in stations
I had recently been to Varanasi, the constituency of our PM and I expected it to be very clean. The railway station was very dirty. The main platform was in a very bad condition. I found garbage thrown all over. Cows and dogs were freely moving on the platform. (see attached picture). One lady was cooking food on the platform. A child was easing on the platform just in front of the station masters office. Dirty water from the wash basin was flowing freely. People were throwing plastic covers and bottles on the floor. If this is the condition of the PMs constituency station can I expect better conditions on other lesser frequented stations. Who is to be held responsible. more

These are common scenes at most of the Railway Stations. All cleaning works done on papers. After station masters have to send bribe money to all corrupted officers and ministers too. more

In the news the establishment, incl newly elected Govt of UP has been trying to make out that a huge amount of work is being done in Varanasi.And they are trying to make it like Kyoto in Japan, where Modi had visited during his trip to Japan. All efforts to improve the horrible condition of Varanasi and many other cities of UP and India are worthwhile but let us be realistic any comparisons with uber clean and efficient Japan and its cities is something of a joke! Beyond the realm of reality and possibility. more
