Cleanliness in Tier 3/4 towns

Dear all:

Tier 3 or Tier 4 towns like Mathura or Varanasi are quite different than a metro like Delhi/Mumbai in terms of challenges of cleanliness.

In many such towns, the cleanliness awareness is missing, the municipal corporations do not have the latest equipment/processes, dustbins are missing, street vendors are the most commonly visited places, etc.

We want all members who are from Tier 3/Tier 4 towns of India or have visited them to help identify the key cleanliness issues by responding to this post. Our objective would be to understand the issues/root causes and then identify solutions that can be implemented in these towns.

We look forward to your participation!

1. The way out is to TEACH/EXPLAIN/EDUCATE/MAKE AWARE the places in Tier 3/4 towns/ villages. There are National TV Channels/ National Radio Channels thru these we can make them aware. 2. The method of spreading awareness is different for different locations , so amend methods accordingly. 3. Use of Panchayats/Local Bodies/thru street announcements, by Nukkad drama, local Schools,Local Health centres, maybe use of religious congregations. more
The idea that places like Delhi are clean is absolute myth. Please understand that even Delhi is very unclean. The market places are still unclean although better than the past. But lots need to be done in DDA colonies where it is very unclean and the juggi Jophris of Delhi are still stinking more
Pilgrims are worst because of commercialisation of those small town / cities . These town/small cities need to modified to accommodate current visitors and populations . Civic bodies need to work effectively. more
