Cleanliness/Civic Sense in Public Markets - Key Issues

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your inputs on the subject on Garbage Management.

Through this post we would like to seek your inputs on the Cleanliness/Civic Sense issues with Public Markets in Urban India.

Please list all the issues you have experienced/see in these markets. We will then do a Root Cause analysis and Solutions identification together to come up with specific actions for implementation through States and Local Bodies.

We look forward to your participation!

Morning. I am an Environment Specialist settled in Bangalore. I wish to draw your attention to the garbage disposal issue - degradable and non degradable when separated could be put to 'Organic Manure' and 'Petrol (from plastics)' production. There is enough literature in this regard in the country and if you encourage this talent in the country, it will generate good employment opportunities to youth. 'Civic Sense' is something that one has to cultivate - you are always a good boy at home BUT, when in public, you tend to pass it on to some one else. We seem to have had a terrible mindset which needs cleansing. Once this achieved, no one need to direct the society. Could you therefore, pick someone (preferably youths) in each family for policing and then see the difference. more
