Closure of wet market in China - US Lawmakers demand! Ban on sale in India must be implemented.
It was suspected ,discussed ,opined ,now confirmed that wet markets in far east and China are the starting points of all virus epidemics recently starting from SARS ,MERS,onwards untill Covid19.But the Chinese govt reopened it quietly.
Today’s TOI news -The US lawmakers demanded that they be shut down to save the world from further spread.
In Hyderabad we have in old city lot of people selling these rare animals so-called exotic in crowded places in stinking surroundings in cages.
Can not our government take a hint and ban them permanently?
Though they may not the site for actual slaughter but still knowing that theses rare animals including tortoises,pangolins are on display are carriers of viruses that are changing their habitats slowly by mutation .We must change our thinking ,laws and eating habits .
The hotels , dhabas ,restaurants serving them must be inspected and ordered to stop serving these .
In India People near forests continue to hunt but they are knowledgeable as to what not to eat and what is safe but the new generation who are curious to taste exotic food keep looking for them after they visit far east.
The local governments in Indian states must search for illegal sale of these rare animals and ban them and give wide publicity about the dangers of eating the rare species of animals . more
