Complain if Restaurant charging VAT on 100% value of the Bill
Dear Members, As per my post earlier in this circle wherein I had stated Restaurant can charge VAT only on 60% of the value of Bill as per hudgment of Uttarakhand High Court as the 40% of value is being charged with service tax. I have a suggestion here that members may come forward and start complaining to the sales tax authorities. I am fully aware it is a difficult task and no change is expected initially with few complaints. But we have to bell the cat somewhere and ensure that the industry is disciplined. The members can also contact Haryana State Consumer Helpline on toll free number 1800-180-2087 wherein you can log your complaints not only for Restaurant but also for any consumer complaints. more

Builder is also a service provider and selling flats for consideration. At the outset yes it also comes under Consumer Protection Act. more
