Police at the lower level are to bewell trained to be ppl friendly, detect crimes, maintain law and order ,shed arrogance made to realize they are by tax payers money more
Several reforms have taken place. No impact is seen. It is enough if the Police do their duties within the legal ambit of the given Laws and framed Manuals as amended to the needed circumstances. Prevention of Crime and Maintenance of Law & Order are the main functions of Police. It is enough if they perform their functions duly with little improved moral values and virtues. Discipline is supposed to be their main component acquired right from the day one of their training to facilitate performance of their regular duties and it needs to be kept up. Under no circumstances they should be found unfit for discharging their duties. Their competition with other departments should not be in corrupt practices as they are openly seen commented upon even for their small small bribes taken on the road from the normal public by lower rank police cops simply by making them to afraid. It is one of the reasons for the Police department to witness failure in Community Policing. If public are friendly to police, the common people will come forward to extend their cooperation and support in getting lot of information even in the activities of extremism and terrorism. For detection of day to day ordinary crimes too the police need support of public. It should be kept in mind. Accountability and transparency are needed to be shown particularly by the high ranking officers. All the IPS officers must be role model to their subordinate officers and staff. They should never fall prey to the political muggers and they should feel that they are IPS Officers wherever they are posted. For the sake of lucrative postings their IPS should not be allowed to be bowed down as the IPS emblem is a prestigious one. It needs to set right the evil elements of the society. No politics need to be played. more
