Conflict of Interest - Inputs on Issues

The concept of conflict of interest is practically non existent in India. Being in a position of power and giving contracts/favors to one's own/relatives company. Sharing confidential information/bid submitted by some one with others who are related or provide a financial incentives is common place.

With this post, we seek your views on the common areas/issues where we as a country do not follow rules of Conflict of Interest.

Please list all you can. The objective would be to submit recommendations to the key Govt regulatory bodies/stakeholders so effective policies can be constructed and implemented on this front.

We look forward to your inputs!

Look at how MNC handle conflict of interest, there has to be a buffer unit that makes the shortlist and forwards it to concerned decision maker. The unit has to serve across spectrum and have short deputation from dept not related to decision maker. Modern Management has all the answers but does government have the intent and vision? First get rid of the conservative, self promoting, bureaucrats and flush in fresh blood into the system the nation will race ahead! more

It is human nature that a person wants to be benefitted by his relatives to further the business. It is common knowledge that each other's contacts are used to further business interests. That is the reason why marriages happen across industrial houses. The problem is when the relative assumes administrative office. It is a common practise that the individual relinquishes his business interests when assuming an administrative or government post. But the relatives want to cash in on it. The remedy is like court judges recuse themselves when there is conflict of interest probity in public life demands that the govt official refrains from taking an active interest in relatives affairs. One cannot genuinely stop taking interest in relatives welfare it is a matter of moral consideration to misuse the exalted office for passing off gains to relatives and friends more
Interest through Political Power naturally conflict with the very Constitutional object & Concept . That is why , Legislature with Ministry shall be acutely separate with that of Governance of the constitution. more
