Conflict of Interest - Inputs on Issues

Conflict of Interest is something that we commonly see in daily life, in Government and in Business in India.

A few examples are:

1) A bureaucrat awarding Govt contracts to someone associated with them or where they have a financial gain.
2) A regulator and those who have to be regulated becoming partners
3) A politician with a business interest becoming part of the committee that forms rules for the sector where they have their business interest

With this post we seek your frank inputs on various examples you have observed in regards to Conflict of Interest. Once these are listed, we will have a separate discussion on what must be done to prevent Conflict of Interest in Government and Business.

We look forward to your inputs! more

First of all the benefits, remuneration and power enjoy by politicians (MPs, MLAs, Governers) should be removed as these are the basic concept to lure a person to become MP, MLA, Governor or any post connected with politics. Why many pensions, tax free salaries etc. Who are paying the price, the ordinary people. Such showmanship is not justified in our country, where many are not even getting food to survive. Such can be changed by the public only. Just remove the benefits and privileges and see who comes for politics, then only this country would be flourished. more
Cannot understand why the man who comes to read the meter cannot bring some spare Meter Reading Cards with him. He takes the reading, finds there are no lines left on the existing card, then just scribbles the figures illegibly in one corner of the Card, then tells me to collect the New Card from the TANGEDCO Office - a procedure that always involves some hours of waiting. This is a service area which TANGEDCO must look into more closely. Fortunately, I have been able to pay my Electricity Bills on-line for the past few months. more
As I understand, the topic is about the corruption.... Electricity Dept (DHBVN in Gurgaon) .... The entire state electricity act need to be written afresh as customer oriented essential service. There must be complete transparency of processes involved...... more
More example: a boss may direct his sub-ordinate for an action/inaction which would be to the interest to the boss or his boss. In case the case gets caught, only the sub-ordinate would be victimised and the boss(es) would remain HONEST. If the sub-ordinate refuses, he has to suffer humiliations of all possible forms, so long he is in service. more
Dear Khaliq, Salam walikum, It is really very unfortunate that many people are not clear about digitsation and those who want to earn money through corruption never prefer digitisation so do not want to follow also. According to me ,it is one of the best way to check corruption. It is always better to analyse and experience than believing by listening. more
