Confusion because of names in documents
To me everything is long, especially a legal issues.
Thank you
My existing doubts were confirmed and got additional confusion, this morning when I read an article in The Economic Times wealth management page 3 under
"Financial tasks to do....."
MY BIG QUESTION IS WHAT IS, OR COULD BE, MY NAME!
May be besides Tamilnadu, a few other localities also might have this issue.
Whether it is school leaving certificate, or university certificate or bank accounts, Property documents or even voter id, many of us have ONLY ONE NAME, a few with an initial mostly placed before the name, with a "." in between the two. We do not know what a surname, or first name or middle name or last name etc mean! Cutely the banks might have simply removed the "." from the records because they ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO CHEAT!
Fortunately in the passport we are asked for a given name, and a surname only with no other names!
A few of us just expanded the initial (which is father's name) and the given name correctly, as we are sure of the name our parents gave us.
A FEW OVER BRAINY PEOPLE WHO HAD MOVED UP NORTH "INVENTED" THEIR SURNAMES ETC USING THE PLACE OF BITRH OR CASTE NAMES (which govts are trying hard to push out, at least by acting so) etc.
Yesterday while booking an online air ticket I was asked for a first name and last name and no given name! I gave, and hope to get admitted in to airport when I go there!
The article that I referred to in the beginning states, that in the death certificates, make sure that the details of names remain the same as in the dead person's Aadhaar or PAN card: Also make sure that, as no initial will be accepted, the initial needs to be expanded!
Now my confusions are,
1) In what name my death certificates must be procured by my family, if and when I die?
2) What happens to all MY SO CALLED BELONGINGS till the date of dying, as all the documents will be in MY name, and not in Aadhaar or pan formats!
Even when PAN was introduced these were not related and no questions were asked, and the govt happily issued a PAN card, and more happily accepted all taxes paid by the "SAME ME!" Of course we did not understand the importance that these names are going to create latter.
If my problems can be understood by YOU, please advice me here.
And the if the govt (which is really working govt unlike earlier govts, and I don't deny that fact) can understand the regional differences such as the above can also clarify to idiots like me as we are helpless now.
I am not against learning Hindi: I learnt long back: But I am against imposing it: In the 60s because the imposition of Hindi by the govt then, they created a huge problem making a few individuals life easy to prosper till today using the same language as an issue:
Had they simply spread knowledge of Hindi, the situation would have been different.
Look, Tamilnadu as using anti Hindi agitation for the up coming of a few individuals:
But now you even further see actions in Karnataka also on the same path.
Do you want this fire to spread? You want the fire to become big, and get fame by smashing that big fire or prevent the fire from spreading?
Choose a right path.
Including understanding the differences in the way in which we use names.
Do you want give every person 3 or 4 names, and encourage him to apply for more PAN cards as reported in many news papers, and channels or reduce the multiple cheating PANS or persons?
Thank you for reading a boring question more
The present situation may be , as you also know , because of the improper care while recording the Name of person , his father etc., in its sequence . more
But TN was a slow starter with Aadhaar. And entries themselves had a lot of errors as neither the clerk/officer manning the desk, nor the member is even today are fully aware of what a surname etc are!
As I said we use only an initial. Now with rations linked with Aadhaar, everyone's name has changed as in Aadhaar removing the initial itself.
This is leading to more confusion now as ration cards are being changed as smart cards.
Aadhaar is good no doubt, but the govt must understand the cultural differences exidting between region to region for bringing people more closer, instead of widening the distance that unfortunately exist.
An example I give here, hoping I am correct. A journalist Ankeleshwar S iyer etc uses 'iyer' which must be his caste name, and the other one must be the name of a place. He is sure brainy! If I am wrong with this person's detail, I apologise. more
