Consensus to form a truly Indian origin Certification panel

There are umpteen institutes in this country devoted to Food Technology: CFTRI Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysore, DFRL : Defence Food Research Lab, Mysore, just to name a couple. Why is there no consensus to form a truly Indian origin Certification panel? Yes, Nestle and some respected historically steeped food manufacturers could work in tandem to bring in International knowledge on certifications, tests, acceptance world wide.

Then my fellow, why are we paying through our nose to train upkeep these so called scientists who just warm seats, look to have heavily subsidized or free meals, complete their terms, to retire with the honour of a Turban, Tamarapatra, Gold watch et al ? All so called papers they have worked on just remain in moth eaten, dusty files bound by a red "Tape" I am mute, eye witness to these.

A miniscule country like Vietnam has overtaken us on many areas and their premium cashew, jackfruit and 100 other agro products are there on shelves in USA, Europe, neat n clean, Making money for their country. Where is India?

90 percent of our jack fruit get rotten and found jettisoned on major road sides.

Milk tankers going to Anand district for Amul factory, let out the excess milk on to road sides ! as there no storage facilities for excess MILK !!! near the highways ?

Then we talk of Kalahandi and the most impoverished, undernourished kids and NGOs are soliciting alms in the name of a wide eyed baby girl who looks imploringly at you on their TV advts??? !!!

Look at the Kids of Delhi - thoroughly fattened as grubs on a plant, with highly polluted lungs n brains.

What FSSAI are we talking about ?

All the food material we waste can go to feed millions. We need to bend and look at the industrious ANT - they form a line and stock up for rainy, cold, wet days. We are busy fighting for election symbols, articles XY n Z, and forgot to clean out bowels or our drains and realize that when piles or storms strike us.

We may be 35% of great educated scientists or doctors in US or other parts of this world, but frankly we are the most detested lot I have seen during my voyages round the world. more

Nagesh Naidu, thank you for this great article. It has raised many points for discussions. Nagesh is right when he says that we are slave of west or to say white skin. We take everything done by white as final approval as if they know every thing. Even for Ayurveda and Sanskrit also we need approval of white skin, then only we take it as a thing to consider. We have our own food habits and we should have our own standards for the same. more
Mr. Nagesh Naidu certainly sounds convincing to me. Why are we not lobbying with the policy makers for bringing about this revision? more
Spent an hour writing this article from the bottom of, my poor military man's son's, heart. I'd been happy if you appreciated by an upvote like 4 good citizens did after reading. We must learn to appreciate each other's thoughts for a better tomorrow. Will you lobby? more
Very thought provoking .We agree with you in all true spirit. Please take it Neeti ayog to translate this need. more
Sir,
I️ searched for it there is a site of NITI Aayoglease try to get in touch with them . more
Can you plan? Do you know who and where is NITI Aayog? Are they really interested to see true Indian products on all shelves of the world supermarkets or are they part of scams of scams. more
Nagesh, you hsve raised a number of issues. Specifying standards is one of the overall aspect of management of food. These things start with formulation of a policy framework. Passing appropriate laws and mandate mode of behavior. This has been done for industrial goods, pharmaceuticals etc. However, to my knowledge ayurvedic, and unani medicines have not found standards. Our standards are copy pasted from the work done in the west. Our food habits and kind of food we consume is different from what they do in west. That is reason west have no standard of say idli or dosa oe parotha, so we do not have. It is as simple as that. We, of course, will wake up if publicity is available. So activists like Sunita Narayan will become active. AND THEY WILL GO SILENT AS SUDDENLY AS THEY HAD APPEARED. more
Niranjanji, Thank you.

1. While researching on ayurvedic herbs, meeting various scientists of our labs, they say treatises/data exists ! Where?
Chinese herbal treatises are upto date, vast and centuries of data is well documented for the common researcher to see. Western Medicine is only available at a small pharmacy in big cities like Shanghai, for foreigners! Where as all local pharmacies have herbal medicine, the 'doctor' is mostly a white coated lady who takes your pulse, listens you patiently and gives you medicine. 2 doses and you are good to run.

We are slaves to a western system
1. Cricket !!!

2. Pharma cos. taking you for a grand ride, coupled with our medicine men n their machinations.

3. Newer cars, with lesser pollution specs than their western counterparts churned out by dozens of cos., flooding the roads, so cheap that my family considers that me hanging on to the 20 year old Maruti 800 .. is a piece of ..hit. Have we forgotten to walk or stroll, look . . enjoy our surroundings?

4. The amount of 2 wheelers being pumped in by Indian n foreign manufacturers and we cry about pollution. No where have I seen in my voyages round the world such a people who are so wedded to their departed western culture !

5. All models in any advt., you see are pale, white hangers. Other countries use only their models as first n last priority.

6. Most kids on the road are glued to a flat slate to their ears. Do they have a dream to make something? No they donot even have the inclination to tie their shoe laces, nor an iota of respect for elders. They donot know what is a formal dress - which means, unshaven face, socks less shoes, coat but no tie. They could be more comfortable in Indian dress - bandh gala. As you said it COPY n PASTE is the flavour.

7. I donot know what the Culture Ministries of our country do? Why Swacchata has to be shouted on from a person high up, that he has a 100 other good things to do to uplift this dirty smelling to something better.

8. Look at any meeting, congregation around at any function official or otherwise, you will find people in all types of clothes, colours with no laid standards to some uniformity, then how will we stand for the national anthem - we have utter hatred for the other person's caste, colour, north south, east or west .. do we take this hatred to our grave ? Then I donot understand how did we succeed in getting successfully fertilized to become a human ?

9. I have dealt with areas like DRDO, NAL other areas of which I am ashamed, that as a vendor/contractor, I am undertaking to to sell at L1 - lowest price, taking into account paying right from the gate to the top - their percentages - scientists whose salaries go to 3 lakhs, stooping to get a percent on the Rs.10,000 item they desperately needed, purchased and with this kick back, his wife will work for the Kendriya vidyalaya, one or two kids studying free and moving up the ladder to only repeat what father n mother have done. Develop nothing. warm seats. steal technology from some vendor's hard work - sell it to another vendor - make crores. It happened to me.

10. It hits like a lightning bolt if you really see a honest person. Own family can call such a person piece of ...hit,

We are evolving, like ITC - The English co., Indian Tobacco Co, is evolving into noodles, rice, pasta n pickles. Like MTR got the tech from CFTRI and make great stuff though they have been sold to some one Danish or Swedish !

So we are a confused set of kurta / pyjama / sari / dhoti wearing people calling our selves Indians but like to have our own flags, own Articles xy n z, have a H1B or Green card or Blue Passport with an Eagle on it. Temples are dedicated to this foolishness or rathere trend of Visa prayers ... OMG more
Implementation is toughest. Every body should take their own responsibility. more
