CONSTIPATION AND IT'S ILL EFFCETS. HOW TO AVOID CONSTIPATION.
Constipation often coexists with depression, Disturbed Sleep Cycle. Chronic constipation can also be caused by an underlying medical condition such as low thyroid hormone levels. Constipation is a problem that can be particularly troublesome for people with hypothyroidism -- an underactive thyroid. Hypothyroidism slows down many of the body's systems, including digestion and elimination. And unfortunately, some people can end up being chronically constipated as a result.

What most people don't know about is the harmful effects constipation can cause on their bodies. Constipation can cause a number of things that are very frustrating to deal with. Let's look at these before we see the more dangerous effects of constipation. This condition can lead to:
Irritability - Feeling particularly angry or aggravated can be caused by constipation.
Weight Gain - You can actually gain weight from constipation.
The 'strain' from not being able to have a bowel movement can cause Hemorrhoids
Body Odor - The buildup of fecal matter and bacteria in your body can produce an odor coming from your skin
Skin Eruptions - These are also caused by the buildup of toxins in the body.
Headaches - Headaches can also be caused by constipation.
Mega Colon:-
Mega Colon is the condition of having an abnormally over-sized intestine. This complication often results from stool withholding over an extended period of time.
The continued accumulation of stool in the colon causes it to stretch beyond its normal size and shape. Colons that are stretched for longer periods of time (months or years) run the risk of not returning to their original size.
This can result in the inability to sense when it is “time to go.”
PRECAUTION
You should drink plenty of water every day. Water helps flush waste from our system, and can reduce the chance of constipation. First thing when you get up, take 3 to 4 glasses of Warm Water both in summer and in Winters.
Exercise and physical activity can help move waste, additionally; it can tone the muscles around the bowel area. Massaging the abdomen helps by facilitating movement in the abdominal area where fecal matter and gas may be trapped.
Food passes the digestive system where nutrients and other nourishment is absorbed and processed. It then becomes Feces stored in the rectum until time of excretion. Food is pushed along the large intestine towards the rectum by waves of muscle contraction called peristalsis. Fecal matter should be expelled from the body at least on a daily basis to ensure that no waste materials are kept inside the body.
The reality, however, is that if you are not having a minimum of 2 soft, easy to pass bowel movements daily then you are constipated and waste is accumulating in your system
Bad breath is also an indicator that you may be constipated. When toxic waste remains in your body, gasses rise up to the mouth, giving a person putrid odors in their mouth.
WHAT TO EAT
Must take Fruits like Peaches, Plums, (Dried Plums are known as Prunes). If available have Prunes. I am having Prunes in USA. Papaya is a must whether you like it or not. Apricots, Mangoes are Laxative. Take them in the season. Do not eat Rice. No Maida dishes. Oranges full, not juice. Oranges adds Fiber
Isabgol with Water or Milk is a must for you. I take it Religiously.
Eat a HIGH-FIBER diet. Choose lots of high-fiber foods, including fruits, vegetables, beans, and whole-grain cereals and Brown breads. Aim to consume 20 to 35 grams of fiber daily. Experiment to see if particular fruits or vegetables have a laxative effect for you.
Flax Seed is High in Fiber: You’d be hard-pressed to find a food higher in fiber -- both soluble and insoluble -- than flax seed. This fiber is probably mainly responsible for the cholesterol-lowering effects of flax. Fiber in the diet also helps stabilize blood sugar, and, of course, promotes proper functioning of the intestines.
Regular Exercise. Do a few bending exercise in the morning helps in bowel Movement.
Another with Experience I have found that the day my sleep cycle is disturbed, I have difficulty in Bowel Movement. Take 3 to 4 Glasses of Warm Water when you get up. This will work.
If it does not, then take a Hot Large cup of Coffee and it will about the Bowel movement.
KHUSWANT SINGH who is 98, has advocated that Bowel Movement is a must. Even if you have to take Adult Suppository (Can be given yourself) or Enema (This can now be given yourself). The Drastic ill effect of keeping feces inside the system is poisonous. He also advices to take a light supper/dinner 3 hours before going to sleep.
If necessary, laxatives can be utilized to aid in the removal of waste from our systems The Last thing which I am doing to keep myself fit; I am taking 2 Table Spoons of Milk of Magnesia daily before Sleeping. This Milk of Magnesia is given to children also. It sure enough helps in Bowel Movement. It is Habit forming but at 83, I need it.
