It is a very good suggestion Radha ji. let me make a start in this direction. Recently, I had consulted the senior most Neurologist in Fortis Gurgaon, paid Rs 1100 as consultation fee for my wife, and he prescribed so many blood tests which were never heard of and had no relation ship with the disease for which we had gone to him. The total cost of these tests came out to be around Rs 10,000/- and when the reports were available, he did not even bother to have a look at these reports and had prescribed medicines already. I asked my doctor friend in Kuwait - who is a Hematologist about these tests and he told me that these tests were totally un called for in our case. However, when I asked the consulting doctor in Fortis, ( by the way, you have to pay consultation fee again at OPD before you can see the doctor), he just told that I wanted to rue out any possibility. It only proves that the doctors in private hospital are getting share in test costs etc also and on the pretext of showing the reports once available, charge consultation fee again, since you have to pay full consultation fee if you visit the doctor after 2 days. Does this not amount to - cheating the common public? The name of the doctor - Dr Shamsher Singh Dwivedi. more
