Consumer Protection Bill status

The parliament seems to be functioning better this times and news article today 5 bills have been approved however there is no mention of consumer protection bill.

Can the folks in this circle or the consumer ministry officials please share status of the same. Issues like Service Charge will only be enforced properly once the bill is passed and becomes a law.

Thanks in advance more

Let us hear from the horses mouth: the Department of Consumer Affairs, GoI, what he says. Wish I am wrong, at times I am given to believe that the Department of Consumer Affairs is going to be closed down because of its in-capabilities and capitalist political leadership. more

Indian population is going to surpass China soon. The huge pool of consumers of varied natures like telecommunications services, data services, food & beverages, construction of building to accommodate offices, houses etc are all to come under the preview of Consumer Protection Law. For example we have moved from 2G to 4G. We pay for 4G data but at places like Srinagar, rural India even 2G is not provided. Who is going to refund us back? A builder promises of providing 1200s ft of build in area but when you take possession of the house it is much less. The builders lobby have the court and judges influenced. Who will determine the uniformity of quality and quantity under the law? For addressing all these and many issues a law should be framed. more
