Contempt of Supreme Court ?
As the Sabarimala temple opened on Saturday evening for the two-month annual pilgrimage amid tight security, the Kerala police—in defiance of the Supreme Court order—stopped women pilgrims at Pamba, 5km from the hilltop temple of Lord Ayyappa, checked their documents for age proof and allowed only those above 50 to proceed. Police said 10 women from Andhra Pradesh “who were below 50” were turned back.
Is this not open defiance of the order passed by the highest court in India? more
Equality of gender before law being the issue, why discriminate in genders? Can a male give birth to another being? Why should females get more privileges than males? Do females not take advantage of law when they tempt the males with all sorts of immoral acts for material gain? The recent rape episode is an eyeopener. What is rape? Are we not challenging the basic concept of gender?
It cannot be a matter of convenience in the application of equality of law. Why not open the eyes to universal humanity?
Faith cannot be adjudged by a court of law. Ayodhya issue is the best illustration. After decades, it decided to consider this as a land dispute by isolating faith.
Therefore, if Ayyappa devotees feel that their rituals are not to be disturbed, they should not be disturbed. It is their fundamental right. Similarly, this should be the rule for all religions. Persons outside a particular concept should not interfere with it.
Beliefs, faith and religion should not be challenged. It should be restricted to the four corners of your house and places of worship. It arouses passions when challenged. It has to evolve. People who do not believe in a particular religious concept, should not make efforts to liberate religion or humanity. This liberation can and will never happen.
Awakening has to happen from within the mind. As an example, Swami Vivekananda was not compelled by anyone. He was inspired by a thought process. There was no imposition from outside. It is only then that society reforms. more
