Railways started a campaign that they are subsidizing my tickets and they are getting only 53% of total cost incurred on my travel. Is it true? What are the calculations? I think, all the expenses on account of ticketless travel, concessions given to Journalists, MP/MLAs, Padma Awardees, Shram Awardees, Gallantry awards etc should not be treated as subsidy on the general public tickets. If Parliament gives free tickets to MP/MLAs, then the bill should be sent to Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. If Padma awards are travelling freely on railways, then bill should go to Dept of Culture. If Shram awardees travels, then their bills should to Ministry of Labour. Why Railways should not collect/get reimbursement from the concerned Ministries. To say that the cost of our tickets are borne by general public to be extent of 47% is very bad and without any basis. Prabhu sahad should be candid enough to divulge details before starting an onslaught on us emotionally. more
An extra burden of rail fare has been imposed after GST. There is a hike of fare by Rs 685 on the same ticket which I have booked before GST . I wants to know that is there improvement in meal's quality or train has started reaching in schedule time after implementation of GST ? Bank is continuous charging service charge on booking ticket through internet . Our finance minister had announced that no service charge will be imposed on digital transaction . Railway has to work on so many issues to make it better . more
I fully agree with the views expressed by Shri. Prabhakara Varma that such free tickets should be billed to the respective departments / bodies etc. & not shown as a subsidy given to the general public who pay the fares as declared by the Railways more
Railways should withdraw concessions of all types vradually. They should put their efforts on improving the services. If necessary increase the fares where required. If they can't do it now, they can do it in due course. more
I agree with Mr. Varma and would like to add the free travel concession to MPs & MLAs should be withdrawn with immediate effect. They enjoy maximum subsidy and it is their duty to forgo subsidy on railway tickets. They get highest pay without attending parliament and assembly. There is no provision of deduction of salary if an MP or MLA does not attend Parliament or Assembly session then why they and their family/staff get subsidy on train tickets. more
I fully agree with you but due to technical reason I think it will not possible to withdraw completely at this juncture hence step by step it should made to certain limit mandatory for free travel concession to MPs & MLA more
