Controlling Corruption in Procurement
As a business owner/exporter, how can one ensure that the procurement and purchase department of my business is not engaging in corrupt activities in regards to raw material or supplies/administrative purchases. Please share your thoughts and hopefully some of you have figured out business without such menace. more

You cannot avoid it. But third party random check fear can reduce it. Strict action of immediate dismissal and a court case on finding out a corruption case would be an additional deterrant. Some suggestions 1. Lead by examples. Only when we are ourselves honest, can expect the same from others 2. When recruiting, try to hire honest people (we can't be always right, but can give an emphasis during selection process) 3. Pay them well 4. Set the right expectations 5. Reward for good actions 6. Take strict actions (zero tolerance policy) against corrupt practices 7. Print and educate staff about organization values (integrity, honesty, innovation etc) I have seen many entrepreneurs who engage themselves in corrupt activities (facilitating money to get their work done through their employees) and the same time expect their employees to be honest..this is simply IMPOSSIBLE!! more
