When we are moving towards digital payments and the Government wants this, why at all convenience fees need to be charged? more
When Central Government behave like a local money lender then why blame anyone else? Classic is IRCTC charges 1. they charge 35.4 INR for booking. Reason: IRCTC is different than IR, no matter IR is the holding Co. If you book from window -- no such charges. 2. then, they charge banking transaction fees as well which is not there on cash ticket purchase. 3. Now, I use my resources, railways gets money direct into its accounts, no manpower requirement from railwys and no stationary or printing. AND STILL YOU CHARGE MONEY BECAUSE IT IS CONVINIENT FOR ME. THEN WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CENTRAL GOVERNMENT AND LOCAL AGENT? AND THEN YOU WANT THAT I SHOULD USE DIGITAL. MY FOOT. Why should I pay 1% banking transaction fees which will be several hundred rupees for a family trip of 4 for a distance of 1500 km. better, hire an agent, pay cash and get tickets at your doorstep for a fraction of these charges. And talking of Airlines, the lesser said the better. You book ticket pay convenience fees. You book a seat, you pay extra... as if they will carry a passenger standing in am aero plane. Gone are good old days where there were only ticket charges. Then started reservation charges. then superfast surcharge.. so what if rajdhani and shatabdi have a separate fare system, SF surcharge is to be paid. And there is no definition of a superfast train in Indian railways. It all depends on whims and fancy of then rail minister... no yardstick of a minimum average or a minimum distance berween two halts. more
As a citizen, we are here to pay maximum money earned by us in the name of taxes like income tax, GST, convenience charge, parking charges, road tax, toll tax etc. More than fifty percent of the amount goes in taxes and we live and save some amount of money from this fifty percent. A section of the society enjoys number of pensions, exemption of taxes etc but we are not the lucky ones. Infact the govt should issue the PAN Card with chip system with credit limit of one fourth of the annual salary. This card can be used by us for purchases and making payment at each location or digital transaction. If we are income tax payee of one lakh or more, we should not be charged any GST or toll tax etc. more
There is convenience fee for any online transaction. On one side govt keeps on harping on the digital but unless govt supports this initiative of the govt it will not take off. What is preventing govt to restrict these charges Present govt talks more but on ground level nothing much happens more
The Government should scrap these charges completely. The amount gets credited directly so there is no effort on the part of the Receiver. The biggest irony is that the Electricity Board charges EVEN IF YOU USE A CREDIT CARD BUT NOT A DEBIT CARD.

In case of Petrol in fact the Surcharge is refunded !!!!!! more
