Corneal foreign body
It is extremely sensitive in nature, and there is pain whenever a foreign body comes in contact with (or settles down upon) it.
Recently, an industrial worker came to the clinic, with pain, redness, watering and irritation in the right eye. He worked on a lathe machine, and gave history of some dust particle entering the eye a week ago.
Eye examination revealed normal vision in both eyes, and corneal foreign body in the right eye.
The foreign particle was removed, resulting in instant relief in discomfort; and the patient was advised to use antibiotic eye drops for three days.
Fortunately, the foreign body in this case was superficial and was lying on the edge of the cornea.
To sum up, corneal foreign body results in a painful condition, and needs to be removed...the condition cannot be managed by means of eye drops or exercises. more
