Corruption at Station and in Trains - Your Inputs
Dear Railways Circle Members:
Some of you had reported your views on TTE Discretion and Corruption when this circle was small. Today, we would like to cover a broader subject of Corruption issues faced by citizens on station and in trains.
Please include all aspects like last minute reservation, seat assignments for waiting list, seat upgrade and anything else you have faced issues with.
We will follow this with a solutions discussion that can be implemented to address the issues with a submission to Senior Railways Leadership for actions.

Corruption by TTEs is the net result of higher demand and less capacity in trains. It is better to upgrade existing infrastructure and increase capacity of each train. Reduce Tatkal quota and other quotas during peak season. Providing more services will also reduce corruption. There are many super fast long distance trains which have just two or three halts, for example trains numbers 12907 and 12908. Both these down and up trains have just two halts but there are more unscheduled halts due signal or other reason and many times these trains have vacant berths in sleeper coach. Adding one or two more halts will not have any effect on journey time and at the same time will generate some extra revenue also. more

Corruption in train in India can't be eradicated as it is based on our socio-economic situation. However we need to make things transparent by displaying the numbers of vacant seats in each coach in the trains and also in Railway portal (like IRCTS) so that TTE don't dare to ask for money. more

Wide corruption is main object in State and Central Government employment, transfer, tender, etc.in all departments. So job seekers after appointment start the right to corruption. Corruption cannot be stopped overnight because most of them might have been paid money in advance to seek places designated as top income oriented. Top to bottom corruption in all angles. more
