corruption by police

During Deepavalli the entire pavements of main roads of city are occupied by street vendors forcing people to walk on the road. Each vendor pays a bribe to the local police based on the potentiality of the ares. The place gets assigned by the political mafia and they also make money out of the public property. Traffic snarls, loss of business to proper business establishments, accidents, loss of revenue to Govt. ,theft, mafia wars, but life goes on. Why not take action against the police and city corporation officials for allowing the public space to be occupied? Street vendors can be assigned certain vacant places to hawk their products by transparent auctions. This will prevent corruption and also add revenue to Govt. more

If you google you can read about a police inspector from Kalyan arrested with over 25Cr assets and another from Ulhasnagar with 54 Cr assets. It is simply mindboggling. It is more than Bofors..!! I tried to follow up with ACB Thane and they say chargesheet have been filed and the case is going on at Kalyan courts. It is possible that they are managing our courts using their money power. This is going on from 2011. Maharashtra CM has promised that he will give full powers to Lok Ayuktha to fast track these cases but nothing has been done so far..Can Transparency international do something to chase these cases..? more
Movement of vehicular traffic should be stopped in the crowded markets like tilak nagar chowk. All types of pick pockets are on the move as well as there os no place to keep a foot when walking in such areas. This practice is successful in old market place of Bhopal. more
Web cams in market areas are of no use, when webcam showing stealing by women in a shop was reported to a Police station and still the police is unable to nab such culprits. What is the use of aadharcards and scanning by police to nab culprits. more
This problem cannot be resolved by armchair seating people like us. At the same time, I would say that, no one can fight people power. It has pulled mighty autocrats down and put them to dust. First step is to ensure that all businessman who have their establishments in those streets join together and form their associations street wise, area wise. They are of local goonda managing these people and collecting hafta (Bribes), as also regular Municipal Employees and Police personnel. If these associations are strong they should write letters to the Municipal/ Police Commissioner letter naming the their employees who collect these haftas. It is said that these haftas are shared with top level officials reaching even to the State Ministry. Let that be. Only people movement could stop this nonsense of cluttering the streets. more
Corruption of police force should be handled at the stage of selection. After the written test for Inspectors and Constables, interviews are held where openly the candidates who bribe the most are selected. The amount is fixed and demanded openly. To erase at the root of Police corruption, STOP interviews and only hold a very well formulated and academic written test. The candidates should also be asked to submit an essay on why he/she wants to join the police force. This process will weed out many unwanted elements. more
