Corruption has many faces. Taking bribe is a dormant non-stop practice, though situation of bribe-taking is created through wanton lackadaisicalism in government services.
A recent case in point is how Delhi Jal Board (DJB) officials behaved about supplying water tanker, a fundamental necessity of life for citizens of Delhi. They eventually put the resident aspiring for the fundamental service for the entire day and never complied.

Mr B K Chatterjee of H-1538 Chittaranjan Park
on Saturday (July 4, 2015) had asked for water tanker for his household needs, as the normal water supply was too short to meet the family's basic requirement. A complaint was lodged
vide the complaint no. 201507040236 on the same day.

It was not delivered despite repeated assurances, even as the evening rolled in. Instead a message was recieved by Mr Chatterjee on his mobile that his complaint was already resolved. Apparently they closed the complaint.

As he called back, he learnt that mobile SMS was disseminated by the office of Atul Kumar Jain JE, who is the local authority of the DJB, responsible for the job pf compliance.

A mobile contact was given to Mr Chatterjee at 7 p.m. on the same day, Saturday, for follow up. The contact no. is 96502 91526. Trying the number for several times, Mr Chatterjee stopped tired as nobody took and answered the call.

Following up the complaint on the customer care centre telephone no. 1916, the representative blandly answered that they are not responsible for any information given by JE office of Mr Atul Kumar Jain.

Such misleading feedback against the complaint and arbitrarily closing it, amounts to a serious lapse of responsibility and punishable offence not only for all cases of legitimate demand for water, but also especially because the Chatterjees are high tax-paying citizens.

Chief Minister Mr Arvind Kejriwal has been very specific in resolving water problems that has been a growing concern for all Delhi citizens. Such discourteous treatment of residents signify how deep is our carelessness about quality at services.

Chatterjees are qualified educated citizens who know whom to approach for what. It not difficult to guess how severe is the condition of common people who are victims of maltreatment by DJB officials.

In this case, perhaps, Chatterjees would have got the water tanker, if they had agreed to pay a hushed money as bribes for the essential services which a residents is entitled to get naturally, without a hassle. more

There is one more type of corruption is there which take money for not changing elecric meters. Most of the offices of Electric companies supplying the electricity in Delhi have no electric meters whereas in these office electricity is used in excess without paying for that. We people have to pay their electric bill also. Electric companies shift electric meters from in side to outside the house which will charge huge amount from all of us, is also a form of corruption. more
tackle your problems with your own resources and influence more
Surojit u have to tackle your problems with your own resources and influence. Don't expect anything from any Govt. side. The politicians are only concerned for your welfare till u vote. Rest u have to care ur own life. As in Gulmohar Park, MCD constructed illegal hall admeasuring approx. 26 x 13 ft room in a park, which has been ordered by NGT illegal. When the Govt. authorities are in practice of these kind of things, to whom u will complain. And the officers represent their case to be genuine in the court of law. What a pathetic stage has come up? It may be AAP/BJP/Cong/or any other political party afterall the Govt. babus are also their voters. more
There might be reduction in bribe taking due to efforts of AAP Government. But such rogue have taken pledge not to work also. Files are pending for months and people are forced to think, it is better to bribe. If one has to get leave encashment and file is pending for months, he loses interest more than bribe.I wrote an e-mail to Mr Sisodia Delhi Education Minister sighting an example of 67 days pendency of a file by Dy. Director of Education North recently, but no action. There is no fear among Government Officers and they are freely taking decisions arbitrarily. There should be a deemed clause to ensure timely disposal. Objective checklist can be associated to avoid arbitrainess. Compensation of financial loss from ofiicer's pay. Objectivity in the work must be insured. more
The DJB is a body controlled by the delhi govt exclusively. The Chatterjee's facing a problem and not getting it resolved even with all the help planned for citizens in grievance redressal mechanism by the new AAP govt shows how much educated people have to learn in getting their complaints resolved. They should know the complete organisation chart of the DJB and understand how and when to escalate their complaint till their problem is FULLY resolved and not LIKELY to rear its head again. If Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia could form an anti corruption organisation called Parivartan first to tackle corruption in the east Delhi office of the Income tax office and then subsequently corruption in the erstwhile DESU--delhi electric supply undertaking and then corruption in MCD, DDA, ration office and PWD etc etc since before 2000 and learn on the job, surely it is high time that OUR so called EDUCATED people START learning from their EXPERIENCES and get their problems resolved THEMSELVES since the environment has become much more CONDUCIVE than that found in 2000 when citizens had to struggle against HUGE ODDS. Why do the EDUCATED not learn new things or do they want to be relegated to the DUSTBIN of history when less educated and poorer strata of society have got organised under AAP and started asserting and resolving such Legacy problems of a dysfunctional administration. Ultimately only the wearer knows where the shoe pinches and nobody can fight one's battle for you--else you end up as a pampered spoilt child which is what the armchair people have become. Toothless tigers who don't vote, don't participate in a democracy, don't question govt servants and don't get their complaints resolved to their satisfaction but take everything quietly and remain disgruntled with ANY regime in power. more
