Recently, the Government has taken actions against 15 officials of Customs and Central Excise. With this post, we would like to seek your inputs on the various forms of Corruption prevalent in Indian Customs and Central Excise.

The confidential report, public complaints, disproposanate assets are some of the symbols of corrupt officials. The service condition also provides for action to be taken. But the administration has been closing their eyes. more

There is not a single govt department in any state in india where corruption is not rampant.Also all mla and mp and people in critical posts access to revenues are all part of it.It is a known fact more

Corruption prevalent has been ubiquitous in India, with no section being free from it and not only Customs or Excise Dept. or Healthcare.. The modus operandi and the extent of corruption may vary depending on the opportunities in the system and the resourcefulness of the people concerned, Detecting or collecting evidence of corruption acceptable in a court of law at the point of its indulgence may not always be possible or easy. But where possible, video may be taken of the same using an App downloadable free of cost whereby the video get automatically and confidentially transmitted to the Computer of the ACB and investigation may be. launched by ACB. Out of the benefits derived through corruption beyond that possible through known legal sources of income both spending and investment are done. Videos of spending can be taken, transmitted and proceedings launched as hinted above. Investment can be brought to light by ACB getting access to the records of the Registrar of Assurances in the case of immovable properties and the respective vendors in other cases like Gold, precious stones. It needs to be ensured that ACB does not misuse the special access it is given. The above-mentioned steps should be more frequently and intensively applied to ACB officially. more

Action taken against just 15 or so officials does not amount to much, especially IF it is a targeted purge. Corrupt officials should be dismissed without any further compensation; in fact they should be penalised and disproportionate assets seized and confiscated, irrespective of their affiliation to any political party. more
