1. Salaries, living conditions and work hours of police should be at par with private sector
2. To curb corruption in police force, it might help to set incentive income targets from fines
3. Their transfers, promotions must be made transparent based on the merit and de-merit performance points that are pre-set
4. Complaints against the corrupt police officials should be encouraged
5. There should be a police local circle for community engagement in every city which is key to bringing transparency in policing
6. Police department should be made free from political influence
7. Filing FIR should be made easy
8. The system should be made transparent - every complaint/FIR should have a Unique ID which could be used to track the progress online
9. All the police records should be digitalized
10. Any officer caught taking bribes should be immediately suspended and harsh action should be taken against him
11. Just like private organizations, an image building campaign should be done by the police department
12. Vigilance on traffic police should be increased
13. All police stations should be put under electronic surveillance from the inside
14. The senior management should motivate the lower rank officials by discussing/working on their career paths
15. The police recruitment process should be made more transparent
16. Honest police man should be rewarded handsomely & media should highlight their achievements
17. Technology should be introduced such that policing and enforcement becomes smart

Are only Police officials corrupt? We often name them conveniently. As long it is under Politicians, it will remain like that only because politicians want them to remain like that. Let there be a Central Federal agency and Police function under this agency then they would function independently and corruption would minimise greatly. more  
only higher formation including doctors, engineers, politicians can jointly stop this. more  
Yes transparency can curb corruption. But our politicians should show boldness and will power to implement themselves before preaching to others. Thereafter police department will automatically improve. more  
Make the police actions as transparent as possible. All crimes etc. should be on line to enable Passport officer to verify and issue passport after verification at his level. Muthurajan more
