Corruption in Road Construction
I have a stinking suscipicion that there may be massive corruption taking place in road and highway construction in India. I have been told the cost of road construction in India has gone up from 16 crores per km to 64 crores per km recently.
If anyone has evidence as to why this is the case and they can share the details transparently I am all ears. Otherwise, I want Transparency Intl or some activists to file RTI and investigate this. more

There is collusion on the part of the Giver of bribe and the personnel at the many levels of the Taker of the bribe. It is not easy to stem bribery at the stage of its occurrence and to prosecute the persons concerned. The bribe income is either spent in a lavish mode and manner or on giving of gifts on occasions like weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, festivals etc. or invested in Assets like a property or valuable like gold or silver or diamonds, vehicles etc. The best way to prosecute the bribe taker and the giver is as follows: to empower and enable ACB to to get the the occurrence of informed of the acquisition of such while ensuring against misuse or abuse of powers by ACB officials : (1)Video secretly lavish expenditure on occasions like those mentioned above and use of Apps for transmitting the videos into the Computers of ACBs (2) Detect Acquisition of Assets like Properties and other valuables like gold ornaments, diamonds (in the names of the potential beneficiaries of bribes or benami their kith and kin whose names and addresses should, of course, be collected in advance and remain stored on the computers of the registering authority/vendor), in the cases in which the funds required for the acquisition do not match known legal sources of income . ACB should proceed against the cases identified as above. more
