Cost of Becoming a Doctor

Cost of becoming a doctor in Maharashtra is goinb up beyond 1 crore (see attached).
We gave feedback on NMC bill in this circle. Where are the PM, Health Minister and niti ayog in implementing it.

Like this we will only get doctors whose only objective would be to make money? Pay those loans and then some.

The Govt seems too slow to act. Like we said modi nahi to kaun lets say ab nahi to kab?? more

Why privatisation of education in first place? The past Governments have failed to identify the rising needs of education that too quality education and then started privatisation of education. It was without any cap on fee structure and donations/admission fees. Now I understand that the Government is giving away a grant of Rs. 55 crores to the private education institutes who get autonomous status. Isn't giving education to the people of India their fundamental right? Government should take charge of the education and this should remain with the Government only without any delegation to private players. The Governments are not their basic duties and are passing it on to private players who exploit common man. Great needs to be done in the education field. more
How and why the private colleges charging such high fees had been licensed to run medical colleges? Annual fees of Rs.26 lac means a boy or girl has to spend Rs.1.5 crores to Rs.2 crores to complete his or her medical studies and become a specialised doctor only to loot and make our people more sufferers. Due to such high cost of the education, the so called noble profession has become an act of harassment and extortion for no fault of them. After all they have to recover the money spent including interest and damages. Our government is wholly responsible for promoting such attitude in the innocent minds of students at entry level itself who are gradually converted into Sherlock Holmes because of allowing such exorbitant fee structures in private medical colleges, which are beyond the capacity of an average indian. Is it a conspiracy to keep medical education away of the common man of the nation making it paramount for the financially effluents whose priority is money making only! However, this is not a new trend and charging of exorbitant fees for medical education is in place since a decade or so. Since the government in office makes untiring claims of being pro-people & pro-poor, it should immediately intervene and slash down the fee structures of all medical colleges in the country at least by 75% of the present one and ensure that under no circumstances, total expenditure on the study including PG exceeds more than twice or so of the expenses in government colleges. This will open up more and more opportunities to the students hailing from different categories of families of the societies and low cost will help in prevailing its moral value. more
Direction of Courts on Facilities , Amenities and reasonable rating of Fee also being neglected. more
When some people are there to spend lakhs to admit their wards in pre school, this issue of spending to make him doctor is not at all surprising. Always look at those doctors (60-70%) who are passing out from Govt. Medical Colleges with a fee of less than an LKG fee being charged at even in towns and small cities. more
As a Consumer Activist, my humble suggestion is To boycott the medical seats which are selling more than for one crore. the parents of the students could invest same in the name of students for another three to four years to make them realise the value of the money. Meanwhile the students can pursue studies of their choice.. para medical courses or physical training etc. Parents should tell them in no uncertain terms that it is really difficult to study medicine since it involves micromedicine studies also. So it is better to avoid medical studies for the average students. the students should try to get the experience of the senior students of Medical colleges. They would be the eye opener for these students whether to join or not. I know many students who are finding very difficult to proceed with the studies since their basic knowledge is poor. They are just like ametuer swimmers in the flood. They do not know which way to go.Only 10% of the students are able to cope up with the studies. Mrs.Bharathikumar, consumer Activist more
