AirPollution in Delhi hits the highest “Severe” level for the 1st time this season. The main official in-charge of action Bhure Lal says private cars will be stopped if levels worsen. Forecast says it will, from an AQI of 401 yesterday to 500+ by Friday. Imagine Delhi without cars! more
Banning private cars more than 15 years old may be one of the solutions. But an average indian who owns a car is not so rich to scrap his care once in fifteen years. Instead maintenance of the vehicles has to be checked along with PUC, so that the vehicles donot emit dangerous gases into the air. Otherwise vehicles less than 15 years also can pollute more. more
If the Govt is unwilling to carry out a task, it is the easiest to ban the users. No action has been taken to curb the traffic jam which is the main contributor to the pollution. The buses are another nuisance which stops anywhere it like to be causing traffic jams. Let the Government and its agencies including traffic police work seriously and remove traffic bottlenecks causing jams. The worst hits are pedestrians, cyclists, two wheeler etc. more
Cars will be on road. Powerful bureaucrats including Bhure Lal & Ministers, politicians will be on road in government vehicles. How can you you expect these guys to use the non-existent public transport. more

I don’t understand why the agricultural ministry in Punjab and Haryana can not buy the machines required to remove the stubs and lease them to the farmers as per their needs.
