Covid : We need to Break the Chain - Again

The cases are increasing at an exponential rate !

We hear testing is more, so more cases are being reported -- but the fact is also that cases are more because virus is spreading.

Guess , we once again need some desperate measures to "break the chain".

Keeping the economy going is very important, but equally important is the health of the people.

If we are not controlling the spread, we are indirectly affecting the economic recovery also.

Can we not opt for targeted , area - wise , periodic lock-downs of say 7~10 days, will it not help to break the chain , while keeping the economy moving too ? more

We have Doctors who want Lockdown imposed to contain the Pandemic. We have Economists and Particularly Business Media shouting that Economy is more important and we need to open up.A Agreed. Life as well as Livelihood are important. To achieve both we need discipline and maturity among people. Look at Taiwan and for that matter Japan, Vietnam and South Korea. Once Government says something and there is substance in that they follow. In our country we have some who take pleasure in going against Government. And then there are some habits which are hard to dispense with, such as spitting. If the guidelines are followed strictly by the people, we can overcome the Pandemic as well as keep Economy growing. more
Explained: How Pune topped Covid-19 count for all of India... https://news.google.com/articles/CAIiEAVEVvTPsiBkBdybDF2RKagqGAgEKg8IACoHCAow3rvTBDD89X4wwLbmBQ?hl=en-IN&gl=IN&ceid=IN%3Aen A random comment... "The self discipline level of an average Punekar sucks." My rejoinder, which I'd've submitted in these pages one of these days: "This is true all over the country... the thali beating had resulted in some fear, esp of police/law, & may have resulted in the fear of the rogue virus too even with less counts then... the first relaxation of the lock down, whatever the compulsion, itself evaporated the fear of police, and the virus despite exponential numbers contracting the infection - the govt perhaps is banking on heard immunity despite the suffering and deaths in favour of keeping the economy working... the same could/should've been done with controlled release of lock down.... one is optimum use of technology, eg, mass issue of cards, maybe with RFID readers to police.... 1 card per family to go out... special ones for essential duty, emergency, police/army, etc. With currently available mass production capacity, eg, credit cards, canteen cards, etc, this was a very possible way. The beating of danda on those without valid card read automatically by RFID readers of passerby would reduce work of police/other agencies and so feasible. Perhaps the spread could be less, but chances of heard immunity would decrease no doubt... but then the vaccines would arrive... It was doable... I've not understood the govt/admin decisions, except the first lock down....." Wonder how many of us see logic in the above discussion... The basic fact is - the virus needs human bodies to continue to exist - deny it living human bodies, it will cease to exist. This is not magic, but a simple truth. Even the govt and admin know that it is impossible to get over 130 crores to follow... so they have chosen to keep public morale up by permitting economic activity as another lock-down will not be feasible or enforceable by our existing system... But the truth as stated above remains the only truth. Repeating: I've not understood the govt/admin decisions, except the first post thali-beating lock down..... (Even now, if another attempt has to be made - above given is a way to do it - stricter measures will be required, no doubt, maybe with use of other paramilitary forces besides the police... more
