Covid19 treatment
The information available from research in UK and also above guidelines have been published by AIIMS, Delhi.
Once a person gets infected, he/she will have mild symptoms for the first 5 days. On the sixth day fever will shoot up in cases of persons who are not able to fight the virus on their own.
On the sixth day these persons need steroids for treatment.
In most of the cases it is observed that patient/doctor does not know the sixth day. With delay in the treatment requirement for oxygen/ICU/Ventilators comes up.
Therefore, as soon as any of symptoms appears get tested for COVID19 on urgent basis. So that the patient/doctor is certain about the sixth day.
Delhi and NCR air is already full of pollution. Therefore, extra care must be exercised.
Stay Safe. Avoid getting infected by Wuhan virus or its mutants. more
What happens when a patient has Covid symptoms but the RT-PCR test is negative? This is the question we faced. The CT scan Ranjana had for her lungs after she developed Covid-like symptoms showed a score of 12/25. Ranjana's doctor advised hospital admission because of serious comorbidities. But because her RT-PCR test was negative, no Covid-designated hospital would admit her. The private hospital where she had earlier been treated for other ailments was not a Covid hospital. They held that even though she had tested negative, since her CT scan showed typical Covid lung damage of 30%, they could not admit her. So, no hospital - Covid or non-Covid - could take here. Many patients we were told faced the same problem because of the inaccuracy of tests. Either way, the patient suffers. There are patients who may be treated at home through tele-consultation and a provision of oxygen supply. That is what experts constantly say on national television. Don't panic. more
Attending doctors are expected to discuss all test results and course of medicine with the patient so that he understands all the circumstances and implications. In India nothing of this type happens.
Nor majority of the patients care.
Per my experience doctors in Government hospitals or those doctors who worked in Government system earlier and shifted to private hospitals, are more open to discuss such issues.
On a realistic note, no one knows what is inside the body. A doctor makes an assessment on the basis of tests performed and his experience and then prescribes the course of treatment. more
