Crackers better but still lots to be done

The crackers were almost non existent til 9 pm last night and dont know what happened after that suddenly the pollution and noise levels shot up. So much so that the PM 2.5 hit 800+ and PM 10 hit 1000+

This morning looks better with sub 400 PMs. more

Police laxity after 9 p.m. In my area also,a hugely pleasant surprise,no crackers before 9-30 p.m. Were these green crackers?Looks doubtful from the noise level. This side effect of religious festival should.Educational & social orgs need to campaign vigorously a month before.Govt should put traders in these items under closer scrutiny ,& increase publicity to bring awareness about the ill-effects in a really sincere way. more
Agreed that the noise levels were loud but definitely less than earlier years. Rome was not built in a day and we must continue educating people more
Without firecrackers the AQI is around 400 which is called very poor but we are not worried as this has been acceptable as normal by people. Very poor quality is acceptable for 364 days and firecrackers are not culprit. more
In my colony it started very loud and noisy after 9 pm and gone upto 2am in the morning. It seems that they have no fear of law and crackers were more louder and more polluting this year and they have it in large numbers more
We have to act collectively as a society. Many educated people burnt crackers as SHAGUN. There is also a myth of GREEN CRACKERS. there is no such thing. if any doubt burn one piece and we find out the truth. People think they are superior to others if they are able to flout a rule and arrange crackers despite a ban on their sale. Such mentality was responsible for the damage yesterday night. however still the awareness is creeping in and last night was better than previous years. more
