Credit and Debit Cards going away

I was at an event where CEO of Niti Aayog (old planning commission) was speaking.

He is saying within 4 years, all credit and debit card are going away and we are moving to mobile based payments.

I find it quite impractical as even in US and Europe no one uses mobile payments but we should still discuss pros and cons of this.

One good thing will be the end of monopoly of behemoths visa and mastercard but question is will we have new behemoths like them? more

India if you analyse as a whole you will observe that all policy makers have just used their skills as a resource person or as a specialist in their field in an experimental way. Some click and some fail. Probably this is also one of them. Let's see. more
It is quite possible. India has edge in software and this should be used for benefiting common people. Today everybody has a mobile and mostly smart phone. So it is doable. How multinational spread in India using Indian tech support in software with in no time ? It is time to think big and take leap rather than crawl which we did for 70 years. more
CEO of Niti Aayog(old planning commission) normally speaks as spoke person of Govt. Ruling party, becase he himself is on the mercy of Govt. ,basically a retired officer ,who has good links with politician, that is the reason after 70 yrs of Independence, we are still strugling for most of our basic need, except Govt. employees the avg income of common employee is hardly Rs10000/- per month in the Good cities & hardly Rs5000/- in rural areas. Our most of the branded industries are either strugling for survival or become sick, Niti Aayog is always busy in investing budgets on susidies/financial assistance without monitoring the actual out come. more
Paytm is expanding its tentacles in a very big way. It has already enabled UPI based payments from its wallet by the users. Paytm is owned by Ali Baba, the Chinese business magnet. So he is going to collect information of all users and payees, have them in its servers, and pass on to the Chinese government as and when desired. How do we prevent it? I have no clue. more
Last year I was in USA and didn't carry a debit or credit card depending on currency and found I could not book hotels online for want of a credit card. But these VISA cards are very expensive because the exchange rate applied is USURIOUS more
