Credit card must not be renewed without confirmati
I got SBI CREDIT CARD . I used it only one time and found difficult to pay it's bill. I visited three AMT machine but useless. Then I paid it by check. On check deposit machine it was written that check for credit card payment is unacceptable. Then I visited my home branch to deposit the check. Branch manager suggested to pay by check and offered me a list in which address of ATM machine was written to pay the bill of credit cards. Then I closed the Credit card but on the same day I got a biil. The bill was only for renewal annual fee. Again I called to customer service and got the reply that the fee payment is not necessary but the service tax must be paid. I paid nothing. Every month I get bill will late fine and interest and hence the bill increase every month. I destroyed the credit card on the same day when I closed it. What should I do now ? What will be the effect if I don't pay the bill? Can it harm my account in SBI. I use credit card of HDFC BANK and pay the bill at ATM MACHINE without any problem. Please note that I don't use net banking. I use digital payment by my debit or credit card but not through internet. more

As advised by Mr. Ranjit Biswas, keep acknowledged copy of the communication in case you submit the same in person instead of Speed Post. So also lodge your complaint in"Prescribed Complaint Book" which every banker MUST keep. more

Write a letter to the CEO of SBI Card explaining the circumstances compelled you to close the SBI Card account and that you had no dues payable to SBI Card on the day the account was closed. Please also mention in the clear terms that you have paid all dues to the SBI Card prior to closure of the account and do not owe anything more payable to the company and you do not bear any responsibilities for the fake bills drawn on you by the subsequently with a request to reverse the entries to bring the dues to 'nil'. If one letter does not work, you go one writing to him every 15 days denying any dues on you. Please note to send all your letters by 'Speed Post'. I am sure you will get a posit result within a couple of months, if not earlier. The postal address you can have from the web site of the company. If any overdue outstandings are shown against your name that will adversely affect your CIBIL rating as well as your future credit needs. Payments can be made online even through your debit cards without going for net banking through your bank accounts. more

If my understanding is correct, if we do not use (activate) the renewed credit card, it is deemed cancelled. If it is correct, using the card for the first time is considered giving a consent. So far as your SBI card outstanding is concerned, lodge online complaint with SBI and don't pay anything unless you need a loan. Because your payment default will reflect in your CIBIL score. After 3 years, lodge rectification with CIBIL and get the default cleared. In the meantime, you will keep receiving calls from SBI for collection of default. Just tell them about your complaint lodged to SBI. more
