Crimes against girls by stalkers
Every now and then we hear of a stalker attacking the girl who rejected him with dangerous weapons, in public. Several of these girls lost their lives. The latest is in Barkatpura, Hyderabad where the girl's neighbour(19yrs) attacked her (17yrs) with a sickle for not accepting his proposal. The unfortunate girl is now battling for life in a hospital. The parents of the girl had lodged a complaint against his stalking behaviour, a few months ago, and he was counselled. For two months he remained silent and then attacked the girl.
Many of these stalkers had been reported to the police. The police counsell them, warn them and leave them free. We cannot blame the police for this because a crime had not been committed yet. But still there is a lacuna in their way of dealing with complaints of stalking. They failed to assess the psychology of the stalker and identify his criminal traits. The police and the judiciary need to be sensitized to the fact that stalkers are abnormal personalities, possibly psychopaths. Many of them suffer from mood and psychotic disorders. Timely treatment would contain them and prevent an unnecessary tragedy.
I request the local circle members to discuss this issue and put pressure on the Law makers to make it mandatory to send all the accused stalkers to mental health facilities, after receiving a complaint, for assessment and treatment if necessary. A stalker should not be let out until a team of psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers certify his fitness to live in a civilized society without causing harm to anyone. This is the procedure followed in the developed countries. In our society there is the dire need to educate and sensitize the Police and the Judiciary. more

No explanation seems to have been furnished as to why and how a vehicle with huge quantity of IED was allowed to pass upto and into CRPF personnel transiting in their vehicles to Srinagar. There might have been lapse on the part of concerned personnel which seems to be getting concealed and covered up. Ordinary air passengers are subjected to intense scrutiny while in the course of innocent travel. more

Examples of stalking are shown in lighter vein by hero’s,macho men , villains in today’s films of all languages , some even singing songs ( it was a trend inyesteryear films and romanticised) . Never have these responsible people in civilised society condemned openly Untill a crime takes place with severe consequences. Frivolrous talk , gesture , derogary words , teasing, in North India ( called chedna) and even conservative south it has taken a step forwards resulting in sexual crimes. West has a law for stalking .We in India took it light for years brushing it as youth banter and even legitimising calling it common amongst young men and women. Too late too little is the laws and actions initiated to day . Crimes continue unabated in spite of Nirbhaya law! Ban on films and TV serials showing such behaviour is needed apart from moral teaching in schools ,colleges, prevention of ragging is a step further in that direction. Society elders must interfere when ever they are witnesses to such events and interfere ,it will have some sobering effort on youth. more

'A stalker should not be let out until a team of psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers certify his fitness to live in a civilized society without causing harm to anyone.' is a needed solution to the present Society. Even those who undergone 1st counselling/warning by Police, shall be kept under observance by the Parents of both involved AND MUST ONCE AGAIN REPORT TO POLICE in the absence of which, this such incidents will go on continue WHILE THOSE REALLY REQUIRE Psychological treatment, unnecessarily become punishable and, the lives of the Self, connected, also face under tortures. more
