Day light robbery by Railways
I recently booked two second sitting seats for travel by Ratnachal express from samalkot to Vijayawada which was a wait listed ticket. While I paid 210 for two seats, as the seats were not confirmed the tickets were automatically cancelled and I was refunded only 150. Thus for a travel which railways could not facilitate, they charged me 60+11.24= 71.24 (including service charge). I was told that 60 is the clerkage. I fail to understand who the clerks were that were involved in this booking. I did all the effort on my PC.
I feel this is nothing but day light robbery. They should not charge anything for a wait listed ticket that is not confirmed. Anyway they are enjoying the cash that customers pay for advance booking even for wait listed tickets. more

The amount 11.24 is other than the bank charges. This is the amount charged and shown in the ticket. In fact even the bank charges and these service charges, the railways should pay IRCTC as they (railways) are saving a lot on infra and other overheads which they would incur for reservation offices and manual bookings. 60 I mentioned above is retained completely by Railways for doing nothing and even when not providing any service while keeping the cash paid for advance reservation for several days. I am the clerk in this process and they charge and retain the clerkage for my efforts. more
