One last thing. Many of you must've seen the picture of half a dozen grandchildren coming to visit the ailing grandmother. They are all busy with their smartphones and the poor old lady is reclining in her bed, wondering! more
Allow me to share a situation with you. The two-year young daughter of a friend, living in Canada, was made to watch family pictures on the iPad by the parents. She was taught how with the swish of a finger she could go over to the next page/picture. The little girl found it mighty interesting. Months later they decided to come to India and visit the larger family. The grandfather took out his old family album to show the girl their own photos. The girl swished her finger several times on the open page but no new pictures appeared. She was NOT amused by this and pushed the photo-album from her most disinterestedly. more
Quite an intricate question posed by Ms Urmila which may not find an easy, straight answer. If we look back into our younger years, we too gladly embraced newnesses and changes in our social lives. Like, e.g. wanting to sit long hours in front of the TV, or having long conversations with friends on the telephone, or resorting to the use of calculator. All these gadgets entered as newnesses into our lives. Today, PC, Smartphone, iPad, Laptop and their family-members, such as FB, Twitter, Instagram etc. etc. have entered into our lives. Could one have prevented this? The answer is "no". Can we prevent this? Sadly, the answer here too is "no". With availability of email-facility we've forgotten to write by hand, with WhatsApp we are already beginning to lose the art of verbal communication. Appears like slowly but surely we shall become strangers to our own selves! more
Madam I am just attempting based on my observation on day to day basis and regret if it hurts to the sentiments of any person. Now a days the children are addicted to the use of mobile phone as their young parents specially the mothers are so much addicted to the phone specially whattsapp, facebook, instagram etc. If I say that the parents are even prepared to break their matrimonial relations because of such addiction, it may not be a wrong statement. Now if the parents are so addicted to the phones and social media apps what signal is being given to the children. Now a days parents feel proud if the children are given mobiles in the hands of their children of even of a age of one year child to play the games. This is purely what I observe on day to day basis. more
