Dead City bangalore

BBC repeats the story which was predicted almost 7 years back that Bengaluru will turn into dead city in few years from now. The ground water level is reaching zero and approaching fast. kaveri is not reliable and unless the river joining movement is started this city will indeed turn into a dead city very very soon.
River joining movement or idea was shelved because of many insidious campaign run by some scientific big heads and some NGO's. But we are coming to the survival point now and hence crocodiles moving across northern rivers, changes in surrounding flora and fauna, natural gradients etc. should not become a big hurdle. We find crocodiles even in chambal river, and vegetation recovers and adapts faster than we humans do. Sardar sarovar project was also almost got derailed because of the same group..... but because of the political will power Gujarat is now enjoying benefits of the same.

Request to Bengaluru citizens ... please start the campaign or else we will be facing the fate of shenzhen ... more

For sure the city is going to be a graveyard soon if no proper steps are taken to stop allowing high rises, new layouts, permission for digging new Borewells, move the dead industry elsewhere and speed up afforestation right around the city by marking green zones wherever there is govt lands available. Otherwise oh, my beloved Bengaluru, thy end is near more
Connecting rivers and lakes will save not just Bangalore but all good old cities. Please it take forward.... more
I totally agree with you Mr. Sudheendra and for this nobody liked it as well when wikipedia marked Shenzhen as dead city in the making .. that was long ago and today in order to live in Shenzhen they transport water from neighboring places every evening (continue through the night) .... instead of getting emotional ..its time to think rational. If (according to you) outsiders go away from Bangalore, then this city will not remain as it is now. Expansion has taken place irrationally, without planning and at the moment the modest estimation is 40 K bore wells within city limits. kaveri won't be able to supply the much needed water that one needs on a daily basis. Moreover, we too have bought property here, so no question of going away (outsiders) ... if we keep talking about what Bangalore was 15 years back and what it has become now, then we are not getting to the core issue. kaveri reaches dead level every summer and lakes are drying out as well. Forget about outsiders (blame game will continue.. i'm here for last 13 years and i still remember wrapping myself in even in summer) was there any effort from original Bangaloreans to stop filling out the lakes? The word dead has to be taken seriously because BBC didn't mince word when it said we have 4-5 years before it turns into another Shenzhen .... Shenzhen didn't had any option .. but we have ... rain water harvesting and all are not bad ideas but will not be able to sustain the growing needs. The northern rivers overflow and flood the low lying areas and almost at the same time South faces severe water crunch.... that's what we need to look at.... let us turn this city back into alive and kicking ... more
There are many Contribution towards Bangalore is becoming DEAD city: 1. Each one us how much concerned about saving water, Water wasted in these forms at Home: A) Brushing with Running Tap water, B) Bathing with SHOWER or Bucket full of Water, ever since I realised the value of water I take bath with maximum of 8-10 litre water C) Maid servant cleans vessels & Washing cloth with Running water (I remember during early 80's when we would get water only 2 hrs in a day, vessels were washed by keeping water in a bucket or Basin. Today in High rise Building water comes with full force , thus wasted. 2. CAR wash & splashing water in front of the house with Thick pipes are the another region, one may site it religious reason. What happens when these people goes to USA or other country. They will be behind the Bar, we R misuse in the name of Religion & rituals. There has to be methodology, where water supply to each flats are measured by meters. 3. Over head tanks keeps flowing, because of Valve has not been rectified. 4. Taps leakage is never addressed in urgency, in Leakage of water is bad as per VAASTU, it causes loss of money or unwanted expenses Apart from these Govt is so care less they do not repair Public Taps or Water Pipes, the concerned staff does not take these jobs seriously. We as a citizen also do not report such leakage, we just ignore it. Rampantly, giving permission to build apartments and complexes , of course FAT bribes is involved in this. Bangalore is not planned city. So, all of us are responsible. more
