Would like to understand the mechanism of fixing the MRP over the actual cost price. Yesterday, I had brought an electric bulb at a shop in RTC X Roads in Hyderabad. The shopkeeper took just INR 10 from me as against the MRP written as INR 22 on the box. When inquired, he told me that INR 10 is all inclusive and no need to go by the amount on the box. If I take INR 10 as the cost price, there is a 120% in excess when it is charged on the box as INR 22. INR 10 which paid also includes the shopkeepers profit. Then, what would be the actual cost of the bulb?
This means unknowingly, we have been paying such a huge amounts for the commodities and contented with the discounts of INR 2 to 5 which shopkeepers provide when we insist on bargaining. Super markets does not even allow bargaining over the MRP. The consumers are losing so much everyday.
Can anyone take action on the erroneous MRPs being printed on the product boxes and save the gullible consumers please. more
