If govt will decide to fix the price of medicine then it would be more costly for people. As formaer chemical minister Ram Vilas Paswan also try to do it, but we are still paying more than that of the genuine cost of medicine. All these price hiking happens only due to brokerage charges. either essential commodities or medicines. First we have to remove brockers from these types of works. I hope it would be tackle by modi governement.

The material content of any tablet or injection will be very small % of the MRP, generally less than 5%. But the pharma company might have invested heavily for the development of the drug. Next expenses is packing and marketing. Nearly 50% of the cost goes to doctors, pharmacy and the sales agent If all the doctors decide, they can bring down the price by 20% more

I did not mean that the Government should fix the prices of medicines, but it can motivate the pharma companies to reduce the costs by themselves. The role middlemen like super-stockists, distributors etc. can not be removed they are all the products of the marketing devices found by the so called MBA marketing agencies. more
