DEBATE - Cleaning India during night times

Dear all:

Cleaning of garbage/streets during day time creates dust everywhere driving high pollution levels, bad air quality and negatively impacting citizen health.

With this post we would like your views on the following?

1) Can India dispose its garbage at night (instead of day) like its done in many developed countries? This may also mean your home gets cleaned in early evening hours.

2) Can municipal corporations work during night times and finish garbage pick up and cleaning of streets before 5 am in the morning?

3) Are there any municipal corporations in India that are doing this successfully?

Many countries do this and are far more cleaner than India. Can we follow? What are the bottlenecks?

We look forward to your inputs!

The onus to keep clean underneath and surroundings of the vehicles by road side should be on the owners of these parked vehicles. If they fail, they should be fined or not allowed to park the vehicles. They should do so before parking and dump the trash along with their home trash box. However,if they park the vehicles after cleaning operations,They need not clean because whoever clean in the area will clean;benefit is for the late parkers. more
This initiate will be helpful . I am working in cement industry & most of our trucks within CITY LIMITS can enter only b/w 10 PM to 6 AM . Similarly other healy loaded vehicles wil be entering & coming out within this time tenure in order to maintain TRAFFIC We can actually guide them to pick the waste of their locality or vicinity of 10 KM . Small vehicles can be allocated to collect & dump the same at location where it becomes easy for them to pick & dump outside city limit . TRUCKS can use thick GSM tarpulin in order to maintain the cleanliness of their trucks more
This initiative will definitely improve a lot of things: 1) It will make the job of cleaning staff a lot easier as there will not be any traffic 2) The area will be completely clean for the next fresh day 3) It will improve the safety of the people and premises as the night time thefts will reduce. more
In delhi most of the cars are parked outside home and they dont move untill 9-10 am, hence the dust and carbage under it would be left if cleaning is done at night. yes you can do for main road, parks and public places. more
