DECONGEST THE MAIN RAILWAY STATIONS - SUGGESTIONS :

I have regularly observed in 3 Railway stations 2 in Southern Railways & and one in S.W.Railways being congested and crowded . This causes a lot of discomfort and tension for the passengers . There is ,

* a lot of noise as a result of the announcements are not heard clearly .
* Movement with baggage , childrens , elderly become extremely difficult .
* could lead to children or family members losing track of the group or being lifted by unscrupulous.
* encourages criminals loitering around waiting for an opportunity .

There are many ways this could be controlled . There is one easy method to decongest without colossal efforts from the Railways could be to introduce stops before the main and the metro city stations .

One good example could be at Bangalore , when Chennai Mysuru Shatabdi approaches the City Railway station. It started as a non- stop train from Chennai till Bengaluru . Later one stop was introduced at Katpadi , which proved to be a boon for the Railways as the occupancy increased considerably .

This train When approaching Bengaluru city and passing through Cantonment Railway station slows down to such a limit that it gives an impression to the ever anxious passenger that it is going to stop at the station. They all cram up towards the door and blocking the way to toilet for people who get ready to alight at the scheduled stop. This happens because couple of occasions the train had stopped at Cantonment , the unscheduled stop.

As the train reaches the end of the platform it picks up speed only to slow down immediately and stop before at the outer of the city Railway station.

IF THE RAILWAYS CAN MAKE IT A SCHEDULED STOP AT CANTONMENT RAILWAY STATION ,
- The crowd at the city railway station can be reduced along with tension. Look at the crowd that amass and accumulate at the compartment doors . The ones who want to board the train towards Mysuru and the ones who want to get down .
- In my opinion 35% of the train will be empty if a stop could be scheduled . That much crowd is reduced in the main station .
- the passengers with the residents near the Cantonment needn't pay a hefty Cab or Auto fare tracing the way back.
- Knowing full the plight of the Bangalore traffic how much time they can save .
- Shatabdi does have a clean 20 minutes extra time to reach , which is why the train is made to slow down and stop at outer.
IF ONLY THE RAILWAYS INITIATE A STOP AT CANTONMENT OR K.R.PURAM , SO MANY PASSENGERS WHO HAVE TO TRAVEL BACK FOR AN HOUR AND MORE BACKWARDS WILL GET BENEFITED .

RAILWAYS WILL ALSO HAVE A GOOD CHANCE TO ATTRACT MORE PASSENGERS TO THIS PROFIT FETCHING TRAIN . more

Facilities meant for screening of people going into platforms are not fully utilised. Like metro stations all persons should be screened and then only allowed to enter if they posses valid travel docs or PF tkt. This will greatly de conjest platforms more

Since you are interested in a wide range of issues that impact life in India, I thought you may find the below article interesting. Also in one of your earlier postings you asked about vegetarian sources of Vitamin B12. Unfortunately, there are almost none. Anyway, you can google the question or I Canaan send you a link that discusses the subject. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/jan/30/worse-than-plastic-burning-tyres-india-george-monbiot Virendra Sent from my iPhone more

Some members have taken to their hearts about this suggestions .This not a complaint against Railways . Railways is not a Profit mongering organisation , it is for the service of general public and they are doing commendably well enough not like NPA's . So it is natural that all service minded people like here will give their suggestions along with complaints , so that the job is well done to the satisfaction of the customers . We are also giving suggestions in the interest of Railways to break even and increase revenue and public interest . The 5 distinct benefits are given in the post . If one reads the valuable comments posted there are many more benefiting the public and particularly the environment and loosing foreign exchange through Fuel. So the railways or anyone can't say , If you want you take this train otherwise go to some other train or station. We also don't want another verdict pulling up the Railways as in the attached. more
I agree with Shri Jayakumar Daniel and entirely agree with Shri S K Virmani. Particularly when the train is terminating, a frequented suburban station like Dadar before CSMT (Mumbai) on Central Railway, Ajani near Nagpur, hazrat Nizamuddin near New Delhi, and similar stations near Sikandarabad, Howrah, Sealdah, etc. should have a scheduled stop of sufficient duration as much more than 50% of passengers alight from train here. These stops should be there also for even Duranto Express. If passengers convenience is a priority then this is one of the most important action with minimum of expenditure for Railways. While it is agreed that Railways are doing a Gigantic job with good efficiency they can perform much better if they have more resources; and towards this goal I feel that a general increase in tariff of 10 paise per Km. should be introduced with some rider / commitment by railways to introduce latest safety measures for safety ( prevention of accidents, maintenance of old bridges etc.) and safety of passengers in the train - prevention of overcrowding mainly in reserved compartments etc. R.Y.K. more
