Delay in receipt of form 16

Filing of tax return is to be done before 31 July. Form 16 for pension is available from banks only by jun second week. Due to late receipt of form 16 we are able to file return only after june second week, people planning to go abroad during this time are having problem as you have OTP problem once you leave India. Can the INCOME TAX authorities frame rules to ensure that banks provide the requisite forms by Apr. This will give enough time for the tax payers to file there IT returns and also avoid last minute rush for the IT staff to settle the accounts. more

Agree that 26As must be accessible from any part of the world. Also these details must be available by End April. more
I agree with the problems mentioned above. Many retired persons go abroad during this period which is summer in Europe and America. It is difficult to have a look at the 26 AS forms also when the person is abroad. All those go abroad are not NRI. Some senior citizens go abroad just for a short period of a few months to visit their children. Income tax department should ensure that it should be easily possible to open and observe 26 AS form, from income tax department web sites from any where in the world. more
This is very correct. All data on Form 26 AS should be complete by 30th April. For last 3-4 year it is getting delayed. Form 26 AS should be accessible from any part of the world to both residents as well as non residents. Any thing required at any level of Govt or IT department should be done. more
Very true. For first three quarters if banks can file TDS returns within 40 days, why IT Dept is allowing them to file it up to 31 St May for 4th quarter. By 10 the May banks should be asked to file TDS Returns so that they can issue form 16A by 20 the May. more
