Delay in refunds

Whenever I make an online purchase or payment, the money is immediately deducted from my account and credited into the account of the payee, who then immediately confirms receipt and subsequently fulfils the purchase or service.
On the other hand, when a refund is due, they take 5 to 7 working days or more to settle the payment. This is true even in cases of cancellation of tickets, where the entire process is immediate.
Can the competent authorities take action to correct this situation and ensure refunds are made immediately? more

Please proceed with visiting the offices and both purchasing and refunding personally. A delay in one refund of a few days against 10 convenient bookings is the price you've chosen to pay. Please do not expect the Govt to intervene on all commercial matters which are not its concern. more
This is a system issue since it is designed like that. When on buying the amount goes immediately on cancellation or in refund cases the amount can be credited immediately after completion of cancellation or refund criteria. more
Refunds of train tickets cancelled in usual course are invariably made on the 3rd day of cancellation. However, refunds under TDRs take around 7 days as the railways need some information prior to settlement of such claims. I had no occasion to cancel a flight ticket owing to heavy charges they deduct from the proceeds. On one occasion I had to postpone our return journey from Canada which was hassle free on payment of difference of fare, if any. more
ALL ONLINE PAYMENTS ARE COLLECTED IMMEDIATELY BUT REFUNDS ARE ALWAYS DELAYED BY 7 TO 15 DAYS AS A PRACTICE WHICH SHOULD BE STOPPED IMMEDIATELY AND ALL REFUNDS CAN EASILY BE MADE IN 24 HOURS IN ALL FAIRNESS..THIS IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE AT ALL..I AM DARN SURE ALL WOULD AGREE TO THIS.. more
You are giving a general statement, without mentioning the whether it is IRCTC or ecommerce company. Please be specific. more
