Delta or B.1.617.2 happening despite vaccination - AIIMS

The presence of Delta variant (B1.617.2) is mostly responsible for causing COVID19 in people after getting vaccinated either by Covishield and Covaxin jabs, an All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) Delhi study has shown.

The study included 63 people who got breakthrough infections; of which 36 patients received two doses, while 27 had received one dose of vaccine.

Ten patients received Covishield while 53 received Covaxin, of which 41 were males and 22 were females.

The report further states that there are no reports of deaths in a sample size of 63 people, even though almost all cases reported high-grade unremitting fever for 5-7 days. more

None of the vaccines invented so far around the world gives 100% protection. However, reports coming in relating to those got infected after vaccination say that such infections are miled and not life threatening. more
Both my husband and I had taken first dose of Covishield vaccine and became Covid positive. However I feel due to the vaccine we got mild symptoms therefore would urge all to get vaccinated. We are both 65+ more
The Delta Mutant is so different from the original Wuhan virus strain that vaccines using the original strain virus vector are not being able to give full cover against this mutated version of Corona ... However it's better to be vaccinated than not... Because the above article reported that atleast the mortality rate was negligible more
In spite of my narration of two sad events, I recommend that every body should take vaccination because it gives more hope against Covid infection than not having a vaccine. more
We need to understand that covid virus is mutant and so the study on this virus is an evolving one. Any vaccine so identified will not be effective for all viruses. Study will help the scientists to fine tune the vaccine till it is found to be effective for all possible viruses. At the same time we must appreciate that vaccine produced till now for various viruses like polio, hepatitis, small-pox etc do not have 100% efficacy. So same is the case with the current vaccine also. Secondly, even after vaccination we must follow all protocols till it is officially free of covid. Analysis reveals that deaths after 2 doses of vaccination are mainly due to other complications of the patients which vary based on their immunity level too. more
