Design Changes in Trains/Stations

Dear all:

Railways has recently partnered with the leading institute NID for design.

We would like to seek your inputs on equipment at trains/stations where you feel design improvements are needed. So from leaking taps at platforms to flushes in trains, with your inputs we would like to put the top priorities for red-designing together. Share your list/issues.

Digital Boards Inside Train Compartment which should display information about next station. Vending Machines at the station as well as in the train. So people can get things in night time too.!!. more  
firstly all indicators,signboards etc those have sharp corners/arrow-type corners placed or hanged at platform must be removed as they can cause injury to anybody.then its should be made of plastic instead of steel and must be displayed above 6 feets or more .besides name of the station must be displayed everywhere so that passenger inside the compartment can know/read it from his seat. it can be digitally displayed inside the compartment as being done in some trains now.presently one has to ask someone to know as to which station the train has come or being passed from. no one has though about it for last 175 years.long distance train must have sign board outside each compartments informing about the train started from and destined to .as of today trains having display board outside compartment indicating "INDIAN RAILWAYS", what is use of this???? some logic should have been applied by the decision makers.trains should have different colours to identify if it is super-fast etc.further it can have different colour scheme to know that if train is going to south or east or north or west as the case may be.there should not be any space between platform and the train coach to reduce accidents.the platform should be hawkers free ,clean, and" walk-able" ,because many stations are found with uneven tiles/stone,plaster etc. the staircases are broken and slippery. more  
Please compare our train coaches with those in US, UK or China. you get to know what all can be re-designed. Right from the very shape and appearance of coaches to design of the seat, interior walls, floor, toilets, windows and many more. more  
I feel digital boards to be displayed within the boggies on arrived or next stations that would help for the passengers to know. I am sure it is very much easy to implement and can take this under "DIGITAL INDIA" initiative. more  
Ticket vending machines for the short routes inside the train can be thought of and the space be provided for the same more
