This must be done in emergency.. My own experience in my village: Our borewell got dried slowly in a year's time because this plant was growing nearby our compound wall. While we took out the hose to investigate, this plant's roots were sticking around 200M depth.. When we uprooted the plant and kept the place clean for around 3 months, the borewell has regained its level, and now it is not going down since 6 years. A number of families are involved in coking coal industry, which is dependent on these Accacia trees. But, we can look for alternatives like Indian Ash Tree ( https://ta.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E0%AE%92%E0%AE%A4%E0%AE%BF%E0%AE%AF%E0%AE%A9%E0%AF%8D), which can be useful for fodder, medicines also. As per our elderly people in villages, the Indian Ash Tree will be helpful in attracting precipitation and rain also. more
I accept. It is most urgent. A good solution is: Allow/ encourage industries to produce electric energy from this wood. I visited Periyor Maniammai college , Vallam, Thanjavur TN, 10 years ago and saw that using useless woods to produce electricity. Encourage research to utilise this tree for some product. At the same time it's cultivation must be banned. Muthuswami A more
Tamil Nadu is a vast State, having good natural resources for a good industrial growth. Unfortunately, government level corruption, and No powerful planning to attract industrialists into the State, TN as a whole is suffering. The amount of land that are not cultivated due to drought, or shortage of such projects. The fact is that there is no mass awakening against this phenomenon. Earlier, this State had produced wonderful Statesmen, who worked for the welfare of the state, today, one can not see a single Leader in the State! Why the people of TN so silent? more
A thoughtful action was initiated but stopped. Good things are difficult to happen. Another instance is of fast spreading of parthenium, the weed causing astma and wheezing. more
