Development of Railway Stations - Inputs on Issues
Dear Railways Circle Members:
Indian Railway Station Development Corporation Limited (A GOI undertaking under Ministry of Railways) is responsible for development of railway stations.
With this post, we would like you to list key infrastructure/amenities issues in regards to stations.
Once we understand the issues, we will run a separate discussion on Solutions and what is needed at Railway Stations. We will also take inputs related to stations from the discussion already conducted on Passenger Amenities.

general tkt should be issued when after WL tkts are confirmed. General bogie should be for the WL fellows. more

ticket checking systems like in metro for suburbans and long distance trains without affecting the flow of passengers, escalators for senior/handicapped unwell people, toilets functioning/cleanliness, retiring rooms need overhauling more

the security system be digital, & fence retd personnel be deputed, fencing with cctv camera & constant digital or manual patrolling be must ,if patrolling is loose the person should be suspended enough staff be deputed for safety purposes. more

the material should be of high quality as per is/better international standards,third party inspection of iit/nites shouold be involved in execution & release of payment .the pre qualification criterion should be drawn for tenders in consultation with niites/nites & consultants of repute, in design of station also.The penalty clause should be more than prescribed for progress, progressive penalty 25% should be imposed, the clause in contract the contractor should be removed at once & second lowest be given contract, if any refuse for that they should be blacklisted at once for any default like bed quality & slow progress due him in material supply or labour supply.the contract clauses should be strictly drawn.seperate engineers should be choosen who have dynamic progress qulity ,honest records or should be hired from outside railway. more

I would like to suggest three important things to be attended on Priority. 1.Drinking water with proper and sufficient nos.of R.O-System and cooler on each Plateform. 2. Existing toilets and specially attached to the Waiting Rooms are completely un-hygenic and dirty may be attended without any delay, even on the important smaller Junction Stations. 3. Stations must be properly fenced and secured as it is found that CYCLIST, BIKERS AND ANIMALS roaming on platforms, must be stopped.As well proper and frequent cleaning of Platforms too is not being done. -----------(Deepak Sinha) more
