Device ways to strenghen enforcement

The enforcement of MRP or GST rules is very poor at local levels. For instance, traders in Noida are still selling goods without any GST in receipt at old MRPs for goods where the prices have reduced. Some goods are being sold above MRP.

Can the members of this circle and Consumer Legal Affairs dept please come up with a mechanism that will drastically minimize such practices.

Can there be a very heavy fine and arrest warrant issued in such cases? more

Yesterday, my wife went into a shop to buy some clothes. While making payment, she asked for the bill. The shopkeeper told her bill book is not ready yet. When she told him I want to make payment through card, he said his POS machine is out of order and so ultimately she had to pay by cash. This is how shopkeepers are trying to generate black money and avoid making record of the sales made. As there is no proof of purchase made with us, we cannot complain to the authorities. I hope with implementation of GST, this comes to an end as time goes. more
