DG Set ban impractical

Would the administrators of Noida Delhi, Gurgaon and other NCR cities advise what is their plan to implement DG set ban. Like some people mentioned, they have elderly people at home dependent on medical units running on power supply. I would urge EPCA to comment also on this?

Clarity is important. In Noida power cuts are frequent. I don't think this can work.

What other measures are being taken? Is drone or helicopter based surveillence planned to minimise garbage burn planned? more

Failed to understand how one can think of such impractical decision? One should think of an alternative also, so that people sufferings will be less. Residents of Delhi & NCR experience a power cut everyday and banning DG set will halt the life. Govt. should make good plan, and people of the country will obey it. more
In DG set the culprit here is diesel. Impractical or practical, diesel pollutes., whether in your SUV, a luxury, as Mr.Raja Argarwal rightly says, or used to run a genset. Promote central supply of electricity all the time. Why promote sale of noisy, costly and polluting generators? Also the flip side of above mentioned residential societies and elevators therein, high rise buildings optimise the use of land, as many more people can be accommodated in lesser area, in what is known as transit oriented development, benefiting from efficiency of density, people need to commute lesser distances, that helps fight vehicular pollution. more
A large number of Housing societies have installed DG sets . How can they suddenly buy Invertors and install them ,as a wiring is also required. more
While I agree that a complete ban on use fo DG sets is impractical and not feasible, everyone must understand that the ban on DG sets is NOT FOR EMERGENCY SERVICES. Further, since all of us understand that DG sets do cause air pollution, we can help improve the environment by using Inverters for domestic use and also for medical equipment. Inverters are available for even high capacity needs like 4-5 KVA and more. Surely no medical equipment being used at home would need a DG set of more than 2-3 KVA? So ib any case if we as responsible citizens of the country want to assist in reducing pollution levels, we can change over to Inverters. Further Inverters need hardly any maintenance. Operating costs are low and so useful in many ways. Inverters with correct sign wave generated power are also available, if the need arises. more
Only fullish public will use costliest generator alternative energy when our regular supply is there all for 24 hours. Govt. should not waist hard earned public money on adviertisments as 24 hours supply all world over including Delhi rather should devise some effitive measures to curb pollution. I am running Deep Freze Industry in Delhi. No power no Freezing .All public consumpion item are supoiled / not fit for human consumption/ becomes POISNOUS or are waist. How can industry survive in Delhi in such RESTRICTIONS. D.K.Puri more
